The annual meeting of the Mermaids will take place on Sunday, April 11th with online activities from Teos Marina under pandemic conditions.
Teos Marina, which was rapidly renovated after the earthquake and tsunami in October last year, is ready for blue days with spring. The Mermaids Platform will meet with sea enthusiasts from Teos Marina with an all-day event on Sunday, April 11, 2021.
Mermaids is made up of women of various ages who love the sea, who are enriched by the wisdom and sharing of the blues, who meet with the sea and sailing at every opportunity, who have sailed on the turquoise coasts of our country, who have sailed to distant seas and even crossed oceans.
Conversations and workshop
On Sunday, April 11, Ege Ayardoğan and Behice Uğan, Public Relations Officer of Teos Yacht Sailing Club, will talk about ’The Short Story of Teos from Past to Present“ at 10:30 am.
At 11:00 am, in the workshop ’I Write to the Sea - I Draw the Sea“, licensed athlete children of Teos Yacht and Sailing Club will write and draw their feelings about the sea under the leadership of Arzu Tülümen and Dilara Polat.
At 13:00, Füsun Bay Canbay and Teos Marina General Manager Faruk Günlü will say ’Hello from Teos“ and talk about why the Mermaids are in Teos Marina.
Women sailors in the footsteps of Oda Boro
According to the event program, ’A Conversation with Women Who Have Sailed Around the World in the Footsteps of Oda Boro“ will take place at 13:30, moderated by Nadire Berker and Hülya Leigh. The participants Christina Karamanoğlu, Zuhal Atasoy, Türkan Yöney, Ayça Kirişçioğlu, Hattaya Sür, Elif Yurtbulmuş, Ayfer Er, Ebru İşletici, Elaine Selis and the pleasant memories and adventures of women sailors who sailed around the world on the same route at different times will be the subject of the conversation.
At 16:00, under the title ’Journey to the New World“, Hülya Leigh and Kısmet Deniz Polat will share their Atlantic and American adventures on the same route, 21 years apart.
At 17:00, author Gülin Bozkurt's presentation ’There are Oceans I Need to Overcome“ will focus on resilience to change with ocean stories. All events will be held in accordance with the pandemic rules, and participation will be followed live on the online Mermaids Platform's Facebook, Youtube, Instagram pages.
STS Bodrum school ship open to visitors
Turkey's first and only sailing school ship STS Bodrum will set sail from Bodrum on Friday morning, April 9, to participate in the Mermaids Platform's Teos Marina event. STS Bodrum, which will sail with Bosav and Platform members, will be open to sea enthusiasts at Teos Marina on April 10-11.
Due to the curfew, the conditions of which were changed last week, only the residents of Teos Marina and the licensed optimist and laser sailors of Teos Yacht and Sailing Club will be able to visit the historic STS Okul ship this weekend.
