The August 30th TAYK BMW Borusan Otomotiv Victory Cup Yacht Race was held in the waters of the Bosphorus.
The August 30 TAYK BMW Borusan Otomotiv Victory Cup Yacht Race was held at Kalamış Marina in Istanbul between August 30 and September 1.
The event was organized with the sponsorship of the BMW brand, of which Borusan Otomotiv is the distributor in Turkey, and in cooperation with the Turkish Offshore Racing Sports Club (TAYK).
A total of 42 sailboats from IRC 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 and Support classes participated in the regatta.
The first leg races held on the Bosphorus route on August 30 were a fierce battle.
Istanbulites watched the races from the viewing terraces set up at Arnavutköy Akıntıburnu, Emirgan and Üsküdar shores.
While Marintürk Sailing Team/Domodo came first in the support class in the Bosphorus course, ISTMARIN Rotary Cup in IRC classes was won by Orient Express 6 from the boats competing in IRC 0-1-2 classes and Hitit Gemini Sailing /Gemini from the boats competing in IRC 3-4 classes.
Award ceremony
The award ceremony was held at Kalamış Setur Marina on September 1 with the participation of Istanbul Deputy Governor Şevket Atlı, Istanbul Provincial Director of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Muhittin Özbay and Istanbulites.
At the end of five races in three days, Farrfara Bodrum Milta Marina/Farrfara in IRC 0 class, Akpa Chemical II in IRC 1 class, Helly Hansen/Cheese V in IRC 2 class, Sahibinden.com/Flamenco in IRC 3 class and Sebago Alize G28 in IRC 4 class took the first place trophies.
The special prize, the August 30th TAYK BMW Borusan Otomotiv Victory Cup, was won by Enka Cheese IV from the boats competing in IRC 0, 1 and 2 classes and Sahibinden.com/Flamenco from the boats competing in IRC 3-4 classes.

Visitors had the opportunity to closely examine BMW's all-electric models on display at Kalamış Marina, the starting and finishing point of the race.
Emphasis on climate change from Yuvam Dünya
Within the scope of the events held at Kalamış Marina on August 31 and September 1, inspired by the sport of sailing, workshops on winds and marine biodiversity were held with children, and panels titled “What's Happening to the Earth's Climate?” and “Winds and Currents as the Climate Changes” were held by Kıvılcım Pınar Kocabıyık, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Yuvam Dünya, Prof. Dr. Levent Kurnaz, Chairman of the Scientific Board of Yuvam Dünya, and Prof. Dr. Mustafa Sarı, Member of the Scientific Board of Yuvam Dünya.
Within the scope of the Climate Friendly Sports Movement, the launch of the I Sea Climate Change Project, which was realized with Yuvam Dünya with a focus on sailing sports, was held.
