The winners of the 5th Presidential International Yacht Race have been announced.
Under the auspices of the Presidency, with the contributions of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, in cooperation with the Governorship of Istanbul and the Turkish Sailing Federation, organized by the Istanbul Offshore Yacht Racing Club and sponsored by DHL Express Turkey, the winners of the 5th Presidential International Yacht Races were announced. Akpa Chemicals Team, which achieved great success in both stages of the races, won the Republic Cup.

Within the scope of the Istanbul stage of the 5th Presidential International Yacht Races, which is the only yacht race organized between two continents in the world, 86 teams from 14 countries and more than 800 athletes competed on the challenging course of the Bosphorus for the Republic Cup. The race started with a moment of silence in front of Dolmabahçe in honor of Atatürk and his comrades-in-arms. The racers honored Atatürk by honking their horns and waving their flags, then raced against the strong currents. As the athletes unfurled their sails between Ortaköy-Anadoluhisarı, colorful images appeared on the Bosphorus.
As the Istanbul stage was completed after a challenging race, the winners of the 5th Presidential International Yacht Races were announced. At the ceremony held in Fişekhane with the participation of many guests, including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Metin Kıratlı, Member of the Constitutional Court, Unal Kılıçarslan, Deputy Governor of Istanbul, the teams that ranked in the Bodrum and Istanbul stages were presented their awards.
Ekrem Yemlihaoğlu, President of Istanbul Offshore Yacht Racing Club, who made the opening speech of the ceremony, stated that new courses were added to the races in 2025 and said, “We will sail together in Çanakkale on April 23, Samsun on May 19, Istanbul on October 29 and Cyprus on November 15.”.
Explaining that they aim to fly the Turkish flag everywhere in the Blue Homeland, Yemlihaoğlu said, “Dear sailors, you are the bright face of this country. You are children of the Republic who are loyal to national values and whose hearts are full of love for the homeland. You should be the role models of future generations, the heroes they look up to. We will continue to do our best to bring Turkish sailors to the agenda at every opportunity.”.
After the speeches, the winning teams were presented their awards.
DHL Special Award to TAI
The Hedef Sailing team, competing on behalf of TAI, which was targeted by the terrorist organization in Ankara recently, won first place in the general classification and in its class in the 5th Presidential International Yacht Races. Along with the first place trophy, TAI was presented with the DHL Special Award by DHL Ekspress Turkey, the main sponsor of the races. The award was presented to the TAI team by Volkan Demiroğlu, CEO of DHL Ekspress Turkey.
Akpa Chemicals won the Republic Cup
Akpa Chemicals Team won the Republic Cup after showing great success in the Bodrum and Istanbul stages of the 5th Presidential International Yacht Races. The award was presented to the Akpa Chemicals team under the management of Güney Kaptan by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Metin Kıratlı, member of the Constitutional Court.
In Overal IRC 0-1-2, ENKA Cheese under Levent Peynirci came second and KMH Racing Team-Game Changer under Oğuz Ayan came third.
In Overal IRC 3-4, JERAPI under Robert De Liefde took first place, PAPARA ALTO under Targan Hazarhun took second place and Four Points By Sheraton-Gemini1 under Berk Gürpınar took third place.
