Archimedes produced by Feadship Shipyard received the Science and Exploration award at the 4th YCM Explorer Awards for her contribution to protecting the marine environment.
Archimedes, built by the Dutch Feadship Shipyard, won the Science and Exploration award at the 4th YCM Explorer Awards.
HRH Prince Albert II handed over the prestige award, which was presented as part of the 7th Monaco Ocean Week, to the captain of the 67.75-meter Archimedes at a ceremony held at the Monaco Yacht Club on March 21, 2024.
Contribution to protecting the marine environment
The YCM Explorer Awards, chaired by HSH Prince Albert II, are presented to yachts that contribute to protecting the marine environment.
Archimedes was awarded the prize for his commitment to exploring remote oceanic regions and contributing to scientific research and humanitarian endeavors.
It also engages in humanitarian activities
Five instruments aboard the yacht measure light and temperature at the water surface, providing a comprehensive understanding of the marine environment. In parallel with its scientific missions, Archimedes also carries out humanitarian activities. In this context, it distributes food, medicine, books and construction materials to people in poor regions.
