Kemal Saatçioğlu, who began working as General Manager at Çeşme Marina in February 2011, has been appointed CEO of Marinas for the rapidly growing Doğuş Group in the marina sector.
Can Akaltan, who replaced Kemal Saatçioğlu as General Manager of Çeşme, said: “From the very first day Kemal Saatçioğlu arrived, he put our marina on such a solid footing that I'm sure he feels very comfortable and I feel very comfortable too. Because my job is very easy. It is impossible to fill Kemal Bey's shoes. But we will try to continue on the path he paved for us. For two years, I have been working at Çeşme Marina as Kemal Bey's assistant, that is, as Marina Manager. I was trained by Kemal Bey. I can say this with pride and ease.” During Saatçioğlu's three-year tenure at Çeşme Marina, the marina was awarded four major prizes.
In April 2011, it won both the ’Best Project‘ award in the mixed-use category nationwide in a competition organized by Arkitere Architecture Center and the ’Tourism Investor of the Year‘ award within the scope of the Izmir Tourism Awards organized during Tourism Week. Additionally, under the auspices of the Ministry of Transport, it was selected as the best marina of 2010-2011 in the ’Marina Management‘ category at the Golden Anchor Maritime Achievement Awards, considered the Oscars of the maritime industry. Most recently, it was awarded the ’2014 PIANC Marina Superior Design Jack Nichol Award‘ by the Recreational Boating Commission, affiliated with the World Waterways Infrastructure Association (PIANC). This marks the first time a marina from Turkey has received an award from the World Waterways Infrastructure Association.
