GENOVA MARINE increased the number of projects it served in its second year

Genova Marine, based in Tuzla, Istanbul, provides engineering, measurement, design, and product supply services related to sound and vibration. In its second year, the company increased the number of projects it serviced.

Services focused on “Sound and Vibration,” one of the most important elements of comfort in yacht construction, are primarily provided in Turkey by a small number of foreign-based companies. Founded in 2014, Genova Marine, as a Turkish company, began to stand out in this field with its sound and vibration engineering services.

In 2015, the company served two yacht projects measuring 24 and 46 meters, as well as two ship projects measuring 40 and 105 meters. It also supplied products for various other projects and manufactured certain insulation materials in-house.

Emrah Kılıçsallayan, owner of Genova Marine, graduated from Yıldız Technical University's Department of Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering. Kılıçsallayan spent the last five years of his ten-year career providing sound and vibration engineering services on yachts both domestically and internationally.

Kılıçsallayan stated that the launch of the projects they work on is important for the company in terms of certifying service quality in sound and vibration engineering, adding that the launch of the projects he engineers, the completion of measurements, and subsequent delivery will greatly increase the trust placed in Genova Marine. Kılıçsallayan shared the following with our magazine regarding the developments on the company's agenda, in addition to the projects they are involved in:

“In addition to the projects where we perform measurements and surveys, we also undertake projects involving comprehensive sound and vibration engineering. The first of our engineering projects is a 40-meter catamaran SWAT boat. We handled the sound and vibration engineering for this project, which is currently in the design phase as a wind turbine support vessel. Our part of the project is complete, and it is scheduled to be implemented in the near future.”

We also provide assistance with material procurement for projects.
“After that, we began working on the acoustics and vibration engineering for Harman Yacht's 24-meter catamaran sailing yacht project in Antalya. We can say that we have completed and delivered 90% of the project. We expect to have fully completed our work on the project by the beginning of next summer.’

“We are participating in a 46-meter project currently under construction at Mengi Yay. We have completed the noise and vibration calculations, and our consulting services are ongoing. The vessel is scheduled to be launched in the early summer. We are working on a military project. We are performing the sound and vibration engineering for a 105-meter logistics support vessel. Our work on the project is still ongoing. We also provide material supply services, particularly for the projects we engineer.”

We manufacture products that are 100% locally sourced.
“We also provide direct material supply for projects. We have products with insulation material between two layers of plywood. We also manufacture the materials used between the plywood layers. It is 100% locally produced. We have the expertise to supply whatever is required in terms of insulation material.”
“We have an initiative for accreditation from Türk Loydu regarding sound measurement, namely a certificate for companies providing sound and vibration measurement services on ships and yachts. We will have obtained the certificate within a month or two. In addition to this, we have new initiatives that are still in the research phase.”

Genova Marine was founded in 2014. There hasn't been much change between the market in 2014 and this year's market. I think we are in a very good position in terms of projects. There are advantages and disadvantages to running your own business. Working at a very intense pace, being a company that is still in its growth phase is both exhausting and very enjoyable. I believe we are developing in the right direction.

In the near future, these services will be standard on all yachts.
“This issue, which is very closely related to the comfort of boat owners, seems to be preferred more by foreign customers and shipyards today, but the interest of local customers and shipyards in this issue is increasing day by day. I believe that soon, sound and vibration engineering services will begin to be offered as a standard service on all yachts.”
