The values and mythological heroes of BALIKESİR await diving enthusiasts at the Underwater Sculpture Gallery created in Gömeç Gemiyatağı and Tilki Koyu. World free diving record holder Şahika Ercümen was the first visitor to the sculptures in the gallery.
During her dive at Mersin Gilindire Cave, Şahika Ercümen broke the world record at 90 meters by diving 100 meters on a single breath in the no-fins category. She also dived at the Gömeç Underwater Sculpture Gallery to support the event.

Ercümen shared his feelings about the Gömeç Underwater Sculpture Gallery, which is expected to be a favorite among diving enthusiasts, saying, “Frankly, I was very impressed when I saw this place. The values and mythological characters of Balıkesir are beautifully represented. We say from Ida to Rome. The sculptures look much more attractive underwater.”.

The ‘Gömeç Underwater Sculpture Gallery’, which includes promotional, sporting, and educational dives aimed at viewing, filming, and photographing the flora, fauna, and archaeological cultural assets of the underwater world, as well as accommodation and hospitality services provided on the shore, will also be an important step in developing diving tourism and supporting sport fishing in Balıkesir.
