The Boat and Yacht Engine Workshop was introduced.

The Yacht and Boat Engines Workshop Project, which was established in cooperation with the Yacht and Boat Industry Association (YATED) and Haydarpaşa Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School to support the need for qualified personnel in the marine industry, was introduced.

“Emin Karahan, Üsküdar District National Education Branch Manager, Alpaslan Sirkecioğlu, President of YATED, Lütfü Cevahir, Principal of Haydarpaşa Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, managers of the sponsoring companies, YATED members and students participated in the presentation made in the workshop established under the ”Motor Vehicles Technology Area Automotive Electromechanics Branch".

Starting his speech with the words of the Founder of the Republic, the Great Leader Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, “Industrialization is among our greatest national causes”, Karahan said that one of the best examples of vocational high school-industry cooperation was witnessed.

Karahan said, “It is very essential to make such examples and practices widespread in our country and to increase the cooperation between industry and vocational high schools. In addition to theoretical education, the education model in which our students learn by living and following the developing technologies is undoubtedly one of the most important elements in training qualified personnel.”.

An engineer he met during his student years in Istanbul said to him, “We graduated with the theoretical notes of our professors at the university. I got to know engineering in the industry, I realized that I was an engineer after school.” Karahan stated that it is important to learn by experience as well as theoretical education and that this project is very valuable in this direction.

Sirkecioglu said:

“This year, 32 students from the 10th grade participated in our project. They started their training in the YATED workshop, which was financed by our association and completely renovated. Hopefully, they will start their internship in 2023 and graduate in 2024. In other words, in the coming years, we will graduate at least 30 students every year and raise them as valuable employees who are beneficial to our sector and our country.”

Sirkecioğlu stated that apart from the curriculum of the Ministry of National Education, the students also receive motor training by YATED members within the framework of a specific plan and added, “In addition, English and first aid courses, which we also believe to be important, will be given. We also provide ‘success’ and ‘education’ scholarships to these students.”.

Saying that they started the project in 2017 and the trainings in 2019, Cevahir stated that they were able to reach the full-fledged workshop this year due to the new type of coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak.

Stating that in the new generation vocational education, business people benefit from the workshop and employment supports for schools and graduates find a more comfortable place in business life, Cevahir said, “Our ministry and teachers provide trainings in the field of motor vehicles. However, since the training of yacht and boat engines is different, we have realized the in-service training of our teachers under the name of ‘training of the trainer’ with support. We would like to thank YATED for their support.”.

Managers of the sponsoring companies also expressed their satisfaction for their participation in the project. After the speeches, YATED members took a souvenir photo with the students.
