Sails of the Soul in Mersin

In the Silifke district of Mersin, a sailing race and environmental cleanup event were held as part of the “Sails of the Soul” project, which aims to foster positive interaction between people with disabilities and the community.

Sails of the Soul

-The event, organized as part of a project implemented by the Russian White Cane Society with the support of the Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation (Rosatom), took place at Taşucu Port. Thirty-four people participated in the event, organized in collaboration with the Tarsus City Council Disabled Persons Assembly and the Tarsus Disabled Persons Platform, including disabled individuals from Russia, Armenia, Lithuania, and Nepal. The participants first set sail on the sea. After completing the course in the “blue waters” of the Mediterranean, the competitors returned to shore. After the race, the port area was cleaned up. Project leader Oleg Kolpashchikov told reporters that the project brought disabled individuals together and aimed to contribute to the development of hidden talents. Dursun Aslan, President of the Tarsus Platform for People with Disabilities, also thanked those who contributed to the project.
