Over 200 boats will be on display

Turkish shipyards, one of the world's most important yacht production centers, have turned to the production of family-type boats between 16-25 meters due to the need for social distance and isolated lifestyle during the pandemic process. In addition to vacationing safely on the seas, interest in boats that offer the opportunity to be in touch with nature and isolated vacation came not only from within Turkey but also from abroad. Turkish yacht manufacturers have started to make preliminary agreements for many orders from abroad.

According to the statement of the Ship, Yacht and Services Exporters' Association (GYHİB), the ship, yacht and services sector, which is one of the sectors that increased its exports the most in the first six months of the year, continued its rise in June. Exports of ships, yachts and services increased by 58.8 percent in June compared to the same period last year, reaching 88 million 349 thousand dollars. The sector took its place among those who increased their exports the most in June. The union's exports in the first half of the year increased by 1.9 percent to 501 million dollars.

Boats suitable for all budgets, with advantageous credit and installment opportunities...

Sales of 500 million TL are targeted this year at the International Boat Show Tuzla Maritime Fair, where over 200 boats ranging in price from 65,000 TL to 80 million TL will be on display. Described as the industry’s largest gathering—a sector that grows at a rate of annually—the International Boat Show Tuzla brings the industry together under one roof at Viaport Marina; the growing annual interest in high-end designs that redefine luxury, coupled with the rapidly increasing proportion of more affordable boats at the fair, is contributing to the sector’s growth. Domestic boat manufacturers, who take certain economic considerations into account to make ownership accessible to everyone, offer the opportunity to purchase a boat of the same size and specifications—which sells for around 2–2.5 million euros in Europe—for 1 million euros in Turkey. Turkish shipyards, which rank third in the world in mega-yacht production, are able to produce high-quality boats at half the price in Europe, drawing the attention of boat buyers worldwide to Turkey.

Boats between 12-20 meters are the favorite of the year

Emel Yılmaz, International Boat Show Tuzla Fairs Manager, underlined that they brought together boat manufacturers and importers with those who want to have a safe vacation at an affordable price and boat manufacturers and importers safely at Viaport Marina in the open air, on the sea, and said; “Unfortunately, there is a huge change in social lives due to the pandemic experienced worldwide. It seems that isolated lifestyle will be a part of our lives for a long time. This process has affected the boat industry very positively. There is a very rapid increase in order negotiations for yachts of 12-25 meters in length, which we call family type.”.

Emel Yılmaz said that this year composite catamarans are one of the most popular yacht types during the pandemic period due to their usefulness for crowded families; “Catamarans have already been on the rise in Turkey for a while, but with the pandemic, Catamarans, which are in the concept of an apartment that every family can use, have risen to the first place among the most demanded boats. Catamarans, which provide the comfort on the sea for people who are far from boats but are used to home, are a very good option for those with a limited budget. As for motor yachts, mega yachts over 24 meters are very popular. People in Turkey also prefer luxury yachts to spend 12 months of the year, at least on weekends in summer and winter, safely on the sea and socializing in accordance with the isolated lifestyle.”.

The International Boat Show Tuzla Sea Fair will bring together world-famous mega yachts, motor yachts and sailboats with superior performance and stylish decoration, and will host a large organization including imported and domestic production mega yachts, sailing yachts, motor yacht brands, boat manufacturing equipment, all kinds of boat accessories, inflatable boats, inboard and outboard motor brands, sailing clubs, water sports materials and equipment, educational institutions, charter and broker companies, marinas, concept-appropriate clothing brands and manufacturers, leading institutions and organizations of the sector.
